EduRITA is based around Courses. To use the features available in the application, professors must create at least one course and students must enroll in at least one course. This can be done on the first tab of the Dashboard.
There are two types of courses. Professors can assign the type of their course in the Course Settings page.
Conventional courses are intended to be used in conjunction with classes that are taking place outside of the application at the same time (eg: a semester long class at a university). Conventional courses have the following properties that make them unique
- All conventional courses have a Course Start Date and a Course End Date.
- Exercises are not available to students until their Start Time has passed.
- When the Deadline or Late Deadline has passed, depending on if Allow Late Submissions is enabled, exercises are not available to students.
- When students submit an exercise, it is no longer available to them unless the professor chooses to Unsubmit or Reset their grade in the View Grades page.
- If Show Solutions is enabled for an exercise, students must wait until the Show Solution Time and either Deadline or Late Deadline to pass before they can review their answers on the Review Answers page.
- Exercises made available to review are only available to students after the Show Solution Time has passed.
Open courses are intended to have all of the course material open to students when they join so they can practice and study at their own pace. Open courses have the following properties that make them unique
- Open Courses do not have a start date or end date.
- Exercises are available to students at any time so long as they are made Visible in the Assignment Settings page.
- Students can retake exercises after submitting them, resetting their own grades.
- Student can review their answers to exercises any time after submission.
- Exercises made available to review are available to students at any time.
